Self-hosted or n8n Cloud? Pick a side and say why.

Self-hosting is cheaper until the night your server goes down mid-run and the client is waiting. Cloud is comfortable until the bill arrives.
There is no neutral answer here, only trade-offs and what you can live with.
Which did you pick, how long have you run it, and what did it cost you in money or sleep?

I've used both, and they both give me headaches in different ways. If you run it locally on your machine, inbound webhooks and external API calls hit a wall because your localhost isn't accessible to the public internet. You're forced to stitch together workarounds like ngrok or Cloudflare Tunnels just to route traffic and the minute you close your laptop or shut off your PC, your entire setup dies and stops communicating with your apps. On the flip side, n8n Cloud instantly solves the exposure problem, but then hands you a massive bill at the end of the month once execution usage scales up. After bouncing between the two, I comfortably landed back on the self-hosted route.
